Must-Have Christmas Albums for 2015

So, I've been listening to Christmas music since October...

and I can't tell you how excited I was to get an early start on all the Holiday bliss this year.

Getting ideas for Midwinter Midnight, Vol. 1's track list meant I was voraciously listening to a myriad of different versions of each song.  I've turned that research list into my final selections for 2015's favorite Christmas music. That Spotify playlist is here and below.

[Spotify users: If you don't follow me yet, why not?! I have other playlists you might really enjoy... just sayin'...]

Here are my picks for 2015's Must-Have Christmas Albums.

These albums to be listened to start-to-finish. Because, some albums come as a whole package.

Shawn Colvin's Holiday Songs And Lullabies (1998) - This collection is pretty much goodness wrapped up and shoved into your speakers. Are you kidding me?! Her version of "Love Came Down At Christmas" makes me want to run outside and throw imaginary snowballs in the Seattle winter drizzle.

Mindy Gledhill's Winter Moon (2011) is much too cute, but it's perfect too. It's like the Portlandia version of a candy cane, with a bird on it.

Emmylou Harris' Light of the Stable (1979) - This is just a classic from a really classy lady and I don't need to give you any further explanation.

You know it. and I know it. I would be remiss to not include Mariah Carey's Merry Christmas (2007.) It's every Christmas season's reason to put holographic tinsel on the tree and drizzle icing onto everything.

Sara Groves' O Holy Night is magical and cozy. I love her versions of these classics and they all fit together beautifully.

And of course Stevie Wonder's Someday At Christmas (1967) is perpetually on my list of all-time favorite Christmas albums.

It's the only Christmas album I will listen to in July on vinyl - 1) because vinyl is always better & 2) have you listened to it yet?! You should. But do it with red and green socks, so you can dance across the living room in your red boxers and santa hat. You won't regret it.

Speaking of listening to things... Have you heard my Christmas album yet? I know, I know. Shameless promotion... You can download it on iTunes, Amazon, and on Bandcamp. It makes a really good Christmas gift. ;)
